Mom, daughter latest Durham Covid-19 cases

Durham Region Health Department is currently monitoring seven positive cases of Covid-19 in Durham region.

The Health Department, said in a statement, that it is actively following up with all close contacts of these positive cases. Individuals who were not in direct or close contact with the cases are not considered at risk of being infected.

Following are the details of the seven cases:

Case 1: A 51-year-old woman, who returned from travel to New York state on March 9, tested positive for Covid-19 on March 14. On March 10, she developed a cough and fever and was tested at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering on March 12. She was masked and isolated while at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering and was discharged home on self-isolation, where she will remain for the duration of her recovery.

The statement did not reveal her place of residence.

Case 2: A 25-year-old woman, the daughter of the case [1] above, also returned from travel to New York state on March 9, and tested positive for Covid-19 on March 14. On March 10, she too developed a cough and was tested at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering on March 12. She was masked and isolated while at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering and was discharged home on self-isolation, where she will remain for the duration of her recovery.

Case 3: A 60-year-old woman who returned from travel overseas on March 9, tested positive for Covid-19 on March 13. On March 11, she developed a fever and cough and was tested at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 12. She was masked and isolated while at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and was discharged home on self-isolation, where she will remain for the duration of her recovery.

Case 4: A 57-year-old male, the husband of the case [3] above, also returned from travel overseas on March 9, and tested positive for Covid-19 on March 13. On March 11, he developed a fever and cough and was tested at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 12. He was masked and isolated while at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and was discharged home on self-isolation, where he will remain for the duration of his recovery.

Case 5: A 72-year-old woman who returned from travel overseas on March 8, tested positive for Covid-19 on March 13. On March 11, she was referred by Durham Region Health Department to Lakeridge Health Oshawa with symptoms of fever and body aches. She was masked and isolated while at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and was discharged home on self-isolation, where she will remain for the duration of her recovery.

Case 6: A 51-year-old woman who returned to Toronto from Iran on February 22, tested positive on February 29. On February 28, she went to an Ajax clinic with symptoms of a cough, body aches and chills. The patient was masked and isolated at the clinic and also masked and isolated at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering, where she subsequently went for further assessment. She was discharged home on self-isolation, where she will remain for the duration of her recovery.

Case 6: The 69-year-old husband of the case [6] above, also tested positive for Covid-19 on February 29. The 69-year-old man experienced a cough but does not have a recent travel history to Iran. The patient was masked and isolated at the clinic and also masked and isolated at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering, where he subsequently went for further assessment. He was discharged home on self-isolation, where he will remain for the duration of his recovery.
