Motorcyclist dies in head-on crash with dump truck

Durham Police said a 57-year-old has died in a two-vehicle collision in Clarington.

On Thursday, November 23 at about 2:05 pm, members from East Division responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a dump truck on Regional Road 20 east of Woodley Road in Clarington.

The motorcycle was travelling westbound on Regional Road 20 when it entered into the eastbound lanes and struck an eastbound dump truck head-on, police said.

The 57-year-old motorcyclist sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
