On-phone Driving Excuse: I was doing online banking…

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers have heard many varied excuses for not following traffic safety rules, but this is a new one that we have heard from them.

They yesterday advised drivers to add a specific bookmark if they were browsing the internet while driving.

This was after a motorist told them they was doing online banking while driving.

“If you’re going to do online banking while you drive you should bookmark http://paytickets.ca,” the police advised after stopping the above driver in Whitby.

“Driving while using your phone is very dangerous and costly. Please keep your eyes on the road,” police said.

They handed the driver a total $615 in fines (image below).
