Murder inquiry into elderly lady’s death after LTC spat

The Durham Regional Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a 94-year-old female in Whitby.

On Wednesday, January 17, members from the homicide unit were contacted by the coroner’s office after a 94-year-old female died in hospital.

Homicide investigators were able to determine that the female victim was involved in an incident with another elderly resident at a long-term care home located at Glen Hill Drive in Whitby, said a police statement.

The incident caused the victim to fall to the ground. She was transported to hospital where she has since succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators are in the process of consulting with the Crown Attorney’s office to determine if charges will be laid.
