Durham police have arrested one male and are searching for a second male who are believed to be responsible for Durham’s ninth homicide.
On Tuesday, December 23,at around 4:15 am, members of Central East Division responded to a call in the area of Park Road South and John Street in Oshawa.
A male, identified as 44-year-old Jeremy Russel, was located on the roadway suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
On Tuesday, December 23, investigators located the first suspect responsible for the stabbing and took him into custody. A second suspect, identified as 44-year-old male from Oshawa is wanted.
The victim, the accused, and the wanted suspect are all known to each other, police said.
The 44 year old male suspect at large is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you see them, please immediately contact 911. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
Investigators are urging the suspect to contact counsel and turn himself into police. Anyone who is found to be assisting him to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent.
