New telemedicine clinic to open soon in Beaverton

The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the Township of Brock, has announced the opening of a new Good Doctors telemedicine clinic in Beaverton.

The clinic will become operational on December 2, and will be open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm (by appointment), said a region statement.

It is located at 133 Main Street, Beaverton (separate entrance on the main floor at Lakeview Manor long-term care home), and can be reached by phone at 705-798-3439 or via internet on https://www.facebook.com/61568308963560.

Services Offered

The clinic provides non-urgent medical services covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Staffed by a registered nurse, the clinic facilitates consultations with a licensed Ontario physician via video telemedicine. The nurse meets with patients, documents their medical concerns, and may perform basic physical assessments during the video consultation with the doctor.

This new clinic aims to improve access to healthcare services for residents of north Durham by offering convenient telemedicine consultations, the region said adding that patients are required to bring their OHIP card to their appointment. A $70 fee will apply for appointments where an OHIP card is not presented or is expired.
