No covid Durham death posted for a week

Durham Health yesterday posted 109 new Covid-19 cases for January 10, taking the region’s tally to 9,036 since the count began on February 29. Another 15 cases are under investigation.

Recoveries stand at 7,691, up by 218. There are 1,100 active covid cases.

There were:

  • 26 new cases in Pickering
  • 38 in Ajax
  • 21 in Whitby
  • 23 in Oshawa
  • 12 in Clarington
  • 2 in Uxbridge, and
  • 3 in Scugog

Forty-four cases are hospitalized with 15 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,056 people in home isolation.

Total death toll is at 245 with 202 in long term care homes (LTCHs). No new covid death has been posted for a week.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 2,651 in Ajax.

Death Toll: 245

Of the 92 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 44 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Thirty-six deaths were reported in Whitby, 29 in LTCH
Of the 43 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
22 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
