Whitby: Durham Municipality said it will not enforce late payment charges or shut-offs if residents do not pay water and sewer bills on time.
Oshawa said it will not charge for parking.
“The Region of Durham continues to actively monitor the Covid-19 situation, with the health and safety of residents as the top priority,” it said while issuing the following updates:
- The Region of Durham has suspended all water and sewer bill late payment charges, collection notifications and water shut-offs for non-payment. The region will also offer enhanced payment flexibility for customers unable to pay their water and sewer bill on time. For more information, call 1-800-465-6611 or email waterbilling@durham.ca.
- Durham Region Transit (DRT) has announced some service modifications to reflect reduced ridership demands and support social distancing. Notably, customers will board buses using the rear doors only (except those customers with mobility aides, or otherwise requiring use of a ramp); and no fare payment will be required for any customer. More information can be found at DurhamRegionTransit.com.
- The Whitby Waste Management Centre is closed for bin sales and exchanges. Bins sales and exchanges are available at the Bowmanville Household Special Waste Depot.
