No trace of ‘close contact’ of covid case at Scugog centre

The Township of Scugog yesterday announced it has received confirmation of a positive case of Covid-19 at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre (SCRC).

The individual attended the facility during the day on Tuesday, December 7.

“Thankfully, we are not aware of a case of ‘close contact’ as defined by the Durham Region Public Health.” said a township statement.

It said the township protocols for attending the SCRC facility include proof vaccination, wearing a mask, social distancing, hand hygiene and sanitization. “By adhering to these protocols, Public Health deems this a low-risk scenario”.

Durham Region Public Health recommends the following steps to stop the spread of Covid-19:

  • Follow all public health safety instructions
  • Anyone not in close contact with an individual that is positive for Covid-19 is low risk and should monitor for symptoms or changes in baseline health
  • Anyone who is fully vaccinated, in close contact and without symptoms does not need to self-isolate, however should be tested
  • Anyone who is not fully vaccinated and in close contact with the individual is required to stay home and isolate, monitor for symptoms and be tested
  • If you experience Covid-19 symptoms, isolate, and get tested
