Not moving over nets $490 fine for this driver

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday watched as a driver unconcernedly drove by a traffic stop, but later became concerned when handed a $490 fine.

An officer explains the images above as: “This is my partner conducting a traffic stop on Highway 7 in the City of Pickering. Notice the high intensity led red and blue lights. Second pic is someone who doesn’t value my partner’s well being. Third pic [shows] no attempt to lane change or slow [down].

The officer said the driver was handed a ticket for $390 and 3 demerit points – but later corrected self, saying: “$490 – sorry, tiny keys + big fingers is a poor combo”.

In another encounter, DRPS Traffic Services met with two speeding love birds.

The Region of Durham has so many amazing things to do for a fun night out… but please get there responsibly, it said while pointing out that a pair of officers got a boyfriend and girlfriend travelling along Whites Road going 33 and 31kmh over the limit.

Both drivers were stopped and charged.

Meanwhile, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said members of the DRPS Central West Division were investigating a serious collision at Victoria Street and Hopkins in Whitby.

One driver was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries. Appears to be a single motor vehicle collision.

Victoria Street East was closed between Thickson Road South and Brock Street South.

DRPS North Division charged a driver with speeding 81kmh in a newly posted 40kmh zone in Uxbridge.

Please obey the lowered speed limits, it said.
