Oshawa delays Step Three reopening to July 26

The City of Oshawa welcomed Ontario’s entry into Step Three of the province’s Roadmap to Reopen on Friday, July 16 at 12:01 am.

The city is pleased to announce that a number of recreation facilities and indoor amenities will reopen from July 26 for limited use and subject to government restrictions and capacity limits.

With safety of the upmost priority, we are working to reopen city recreation facilities and a number of indoor amenities and services in a manner that meets stringent health and safety protocols and that follows provincial orders and the medical advice of the region, said a city statement.

City staff are reviewing the provincial legislation, government orders and health authority guidelines for full impacts to city services and amenities. A full list of changes to services, updated regularly, is available on the city’s Covid-19 webpage.

The statement said in preparation for the July 26 reopenings, the city is performing due diligence work. This includes time and work to inspect and prepare the facilities for in-person services and public operations, as well as ensuring safety measures are in place, including capacity limits.

City Hall: Oshawa City Hall is currently open by appointment only for the following services:

  • Service Oshawa
  • Municipal Licensing Services
  • Property Tax Services and
  • Building Services

Community members wishing to book an appointment are asked to call Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 during regular operating hours (8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday on business days).

Community members can continue to do business with the city online or over the phone. Residents can submit many common requests and report issues through Service Oshawa online. Additional online applications and payment options are available through our online services.  Service Oshawa continues to be available to customers via phone, email and live chat during their regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on business days and can be contacted by live chat, phone at 905-436-3311 or email at service@oshawa.ca.

At City Hall, public health protocols are in place, including screening upon entry and plexiglass barriers at front counters. Community members requiring in-person service at City Hall are asked to:

  • enter and exit through the main entrance (located across from the Robert McLaughlin Gallery and adjacent to the Arts Resource Centre);
  • upon entering, wait to respond to screening questions and provide contact information;
  • wear a mask or face covering (with the exception of those who have health, respiratory and sensory issues, various disabilities; are unable to remove the mask without assistance; children under the age of two or for religious reasons);
  • maintain physical distancing from others and adhere to physical distancing markers;
  • follow directional arrows located on the floor;
  • use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the building; and,
  • sign out when exiting the building.
