Oshawa murder a case of domestic violence, victim named

Durham Police have identified the woman who died following a domestic violence incident in Oshawa on Sunday, November 17.

Police were called to a residence on Eulalie Avenue at about 12:30 am due to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim with severe injuries. She was transported to a trauma center in Toronto but was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Parween Adel.

The suspect, her 41-year-old husband, of Oshawa, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

This tragedy coincides with Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Awareness Month, highlighting the devastating impact of domestic violence on individuals and communities, police said..

The Durham Regional Police Service reminds the public that IPV can take many forms, including physical harm, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, manipulation, financial control, and isolation. Recognizing the signs of IPV is crucial to stopping it.
