Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers have been actively enforcing traffic laws and making significant strides in curbing impaired driving, during the ongoing Festive RIDE campaign.
It has already yielded results, with four individuals arrested for impaired driving on the first night of operations.
Police commended the efforts of their officers and community members in removing these dangerous drivers from the roads.
Another Impaired Driving Arrest
A recent incident highlighted the importance of community involvement in preventing impaired driving.
An observant citizen reported a suspected impaired driver who was swerving and hitting curbs.
The timely intervention led to the driver’s arrest, police said.
No further details were released.
Window Tinting and Stunt Driving Charges
In addition to impaired driving, Durham Police have also been addressing other traffic violations.
A driver was charged for window tint. No person shall drive a motor vehicle when the windshield or any window to the direct left or right of the driver is coated and obscures the interior when viewed from outside, police said.
Furthermore, a driver was recently charged with stunt driving after being caught traveling at 95 kmh in a 50 kmh zone, while under a previous suspension and towing a trailer.
Durham Regional Police continue to urge drivers to prioritize safety on the roads.
By driving sober, obeying traffic laws, and being mindful of their actions, individuals can help prevent accidents and save lives.
