Amber entry leads cops to impaired driver, drugs in car

On Thursday, November 14, at about 7 am, members of East Division were proactively on patrol in the area of Liberty Street South and Baseline Road, in Clarington.

Officers observed a vehicle enter the intersection against an amber, despite having time to come to a stop, and conducted a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the driver was impaired and arrested him. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs.

A 23-year-old male from Whitby was charged and released on an undertaking.
