Clarington rejects new cricket pitch in parks masterplan

The Municipality of Clarington has rejected a proposal to include a new cricket pitch for the willow-loving members of the community in its Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) masterplan.

A motion was introduced at a recent council meeting “that the PRC Master Plan give some priority to identifying a space for a proper cricket pitch given that the demand for such a pitch is growing and the current pitch is not useable”.

The motion was lost, according to the minutes of the meeting.

Cricket is almost a religion in South Asian nations of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka  and Bangladesh and has mass popularity in other nations such as England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand.
