Parked Uber driver robbed of cash at gunpoint

Durham Police yesterday said two suspects are wanted for an armed robbery in Whitby.

On Monday, November 27 at about 6:20 am, members of Central West Division responded to an armed robbery call in the area of Springwood Street and Dundas Street East in Whitby.

A driver for Uber had parked his vehicle on the roadway to take a break. Two males knocked on the driver’s window while the victim was parked and brandished a knife and firearm while demanding money. The males took the victim’s cash and fled on foot, police said.

The first suspect is described as: male, approximately 5’6”-5’8”. He was wearing a blue surgical mask, grey hoody, and grey sweatpants.

The second suspect is described as: male, approximately 5’4”-5’6”. He was wearing a blue surgical mask, grey hoody, and grey sweatpants.
