Pedal for Patients: Bike ride for cancer care on Sunday

The Regional Municipality of Durham has partnered with Lakeridge Health Foundation to host a fundraising charity bike ride, Pedal for Patients on Sunday May 28.

Money raised through rider and team fundraising will advance and support cancer care and the Our Cancer Campaign at Lakeridge Health, said a region statement.

The bike ride will start and finish at Durham Regional Headquarters (605 Rossland Road East, Whitby). Participants can choose between intermediate (27 kilometres) or advanced (80 kilometres) picturesque cycling routes that will take them throughout Durham’s unique landscape, it said.

Spectators are welcome to cheer riders on as they begin and finish their rides.

The statement said the need for comprehensive cancer services is increasing and our community has been charged with investing in cancer care, close to home.

Lakeridge Health Foundation has embarked on an ambitious $20 million campaign to raise funds for research, education, capital projects and equipment that support cancer care at Lakeridge Health Oshawa – helping patients through Durham Region and beyond.
