Pickering plans leash-free area in Dunmoore Park

As part of the City of Pickering’s review of current parks and open spaces, Dunmoore Park has been selected as a potential park to have a space converted into a Leash Free Area, said a city statement.

Dunmoore Park is currently has three baseball diamonds, tennis courts, one soccer field and a children’s playground.

The small baseball diamond located at the southeast end of the park is the site proposed to be converted into a leash free area, the statement said.

As part of the Public Consultation Process, the city is seeking resident input in helping guide the city’s next steps,it added.

  1. This is a great idea and a perfect site for a dog park.
    It would even be better if a small section of it could be set aside for the 10 lbs. and under tiny dogs.

  2. Pickering needs more large leash free parks, like the ones in Ottawa, acres of space with trails, not just one open area for the dogs.

  3. Agree. Just an open area doesn’t cut it sometimes. Large dogs, especially, need more room to run and trails for long walks, like Harmony Park in Oshawa. But any additional leash free space is welcomed.
