Plan to set up new winery, tasting bar

The Township of Scugog has received an application for the construction of a winery, tasting bar and retail outlet.

The township is calling for a Virtual Public Meeting on December 14 to consider the related Zoning By-law amendment application

EcoVue Consulting Services Inc. has applied on behalf of owners: M. & S. Passaiume – Applewood Farm Winery, located at 2055 Regional Road 6/Saintfield Road, Part of Lot 21, Concession 14, Ward 1.

This Zoning By-law amendment application is for a proposed winery/cidery with related retail and tasting room facilities, said a statement.

The owner proposes to convert an existing agricultural building on site to house a winery with tasting bar and the retail sale of wine, cider and other items.

There will be a secondary driveway off Regional Road 6/Saintfield Road to access the shop and connect to a parking area. The agricultural lands will be used to grow crops relating to the production of wine and cider. Other summer and fall harvest crops will also be grown for a “pick your own” experience for farm visitors.

The Council of the Township of Scugog is holding a Virtual Public Meeting to provide interested parties the opportunity to learn more about the proposed amendment, make comments, identify issues and provide additional information relative to the proposed amendment before any decisions are made on the application. This virtual public meeting will be held on:

Monday, December 14, 2020 at 6:30 pm.

Residents can participate electronically or watch the meeting live streamed via Township of Scugog Official YouTube channel.

The Council Chambers will not be open to the public.
