Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday afternoon closed off the Pickering GO Station footbridge for a police investigation.
DRPS, however, did not specify what caused the closure, and no further information was made available till late last night.
“Pickering Go Station foot bridge is closed until further notice for a police investigation,” said a tweet from DRPS. “Will advise when it is reopened. Thank you for your patience.”
A few hours later, police announced that the Pickering Go Station footbridge has been reopened.
The closure was announced at 5:39 pm, when the bridge is reportedly busy in use.
314 tickets issued
Meanwhile, DRPS Central East Division said its Traffic Safety Team wrapped up the first week of its two week Roadway Safety Initiative on Friday with 314 tickets issued, 42 warnings and five suspended drivers removed from the road.
