Police looking for drive-by shooter(s) in black SUV

Durham police investigators yesterday said they are looking for suspect(s) who fled in a black SUV after an Ajax shooting incident.

One male victim was sent to a trauma centre Thursday evening.

On May 14 at around 4:50 pm, members of West Division were called to a residential complex in the area of Church Street and Rossland Road in Ajax for reports of shots fired. Officers located a male with serious injuries from gunshot wounds, said a police media release.

The suspect(s) drove by the victim’s residence and shot the victim. The suspect(s) fled in a black SUV at a high rate of speed. Police also located a parked vehicle within the complex with bullet holes.

The 33-year-old male victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

They searched the area with negative results. Investigators do not believe this was a random attack.

There are no suspect descriptors at this time, but police are looking for more information on the suspect vehicle, which is described as a black SUV. Investigators are looking for the public’s help with any information regarding this shooting. If you have surveillance video in this area, please contact our investigators.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst. Chrzan of the West Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2565.
