Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is searching for two suspects after incendiary devices were thrown at a residence in Oshawa on Wednesday night.
On January 15, at about 8:40 pm, officers from Central East Division responded to a report of suspicious packages at a home near Valley Drive and Phillip Murray Avenue.
According to police, two suspects arrived in a dark-colored pickup truck and used the vehicle to break the residence’s front door. They then threw one package inside the home and another at a window before fleeing the scene.
Officers evacuated nearby residences while the DRPS Explosive Device Unit (EDU) assessed the situation. The packages were determined to be incendiary devices and were safely neutralized by EDU specialists, police said.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored pickup truck with chrome trim and a chrome gas cap cover.
A photograph of the vehicle and one of the suspects has been released (top image).
Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage—including home surveillance or dashcam recordings—from the area between 8:00 pm and 8:50 pm to contact police.
Anyone with any new information about this incident is asked to contact the Det. Baldini of Central East Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2765.
