Prohibited driver found with gun, passenger also held

Durham Police said two males have been arrested after a firearm was located in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Pickering.

On Saturday, August 3, at about 8:30 pm, members of the Quick Response Team (QRT) initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bayly Street and Brock Road.

The driver of the car was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle located a firearm in a bag near the driver’s seat. The passenger was subsequently also taken into custody without incident, said police.

A man, age 27, and another aged 25, both from Oshawa were charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
