Recognition for heroes for who helped child hit by falling tree

The City of Oshawa Council has decided to recognize those heroes who helped a child hit by a falling tree while at school.

The incident took place last week, according to councillor for Ward 5 Oshawa and Durham Council, Brian Nicholson.

It has been blowing across Durham over the past few days.

“We had a near tragedy when a tree fell over and hit a child at Monsignor Coffey Catholic School. I am pleased that tragedy was averted and the child is improving and expected to make a full recovery,” he said.

He said yesterday at a council meeting, it was decided that the city would like to formally recognize the efforts of those who responded by organizing an official recognition at the next council meeting in September.

“We want to take the summer to contact all involved to ensure proper recognition is received,” he said.
