Residents help solve a fake currency crime, suspect released

Durham police said a man is facing charges after after a successful ‘Help Solve a Crime’ assisted counterfeit currency investigation in Ajax.

On Wednesday, April 2, members of West Division responded to a fraud call at Best Buy located at 20 Kingston Road West.

A man entered the business and attempted to buy several items using counterfeit bills. The suspect fled the area once staff determined the bills were counterfeit.

On Wednesday, February 18, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

The 20 year old man from Toronto was released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
