Robbers lock credit union staff in vault, flee with cash

Durham Police are looking for two suspects after an armed robbery at a credit union in Pickering on Thursday evening.

On December 8 at about 7 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed robbery at the Meridian Credit Union on Kingston Road. Two male suspects, both armed with handguns entered the bank and made a demand for cash from the employees. The suspects then forced the employees into the vault and took a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene, said a police statement.

There were no physical injuries reported by the employees.

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect #1: male, Black, approximately 6’ tall, slim build, wearing black track suit, black shoes, construction vest and balaclava.

Suspect #2: male, Black, approximately 5’8 tall, faded black jeans, red and white Jordan shoes, dark sweater, construction vest and ski mask.

Anyone with surveillance or dashcam video in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact the Major Crime Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355.
