Not the ideal way to transport materials, is it…

There have been a few cases of unsecured loads, and with another incident, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday, urged drivers to be more careful.

The DRPS Central East Division Traffic Safety Team would like to remind drivers that this is not the best way to transport materials (see top image).

This Oshawa driver was issued an insecure load ticket with a fine of $160.

Up to $5,000 fine for unsecured load while driving

DRPS Traffic Services pointed out that: “People often think in such a selfish and sort-sighted fashion… look at this incident and ask yourself the dreaded what if… what if there was a collision, or a cyclist that didn’t see the overhanging load, or a sharp turn that dislodged materials towards vehicles or people?”

Meanwhile, DRPS North Division officers reported that Davis Drive was closed between Uxbridge Concession Road 5 and 6 in Uxbridge for a motor vehicle collision investigation.

“Please avoid the area,” said the police.

DRPS Traffic Services said falling asleep behind the wheel as you wait in line for an oil change while completely intoxicated – three times the legal limit – is unacceptable.

Thanks to our RIDE officers and DRPS Central East Division officers for their prompt response.

DRPS Traffic Services said on Wednesday at King Street and Waverly in Oshawa RIDE lines saw hundreds of vehicles checked, 12 roadside tests, and one party was arrested nearby by DRPS Central West Division for impaired driving related offences.

The RIDE team specialist attended to conduct the formal breath test.

Meanwhile, DRPS North Division said this driver (below) on his way to work was caught speeding 79 in a 50kmh zone in Scugog.

Please obey pay the speed limit, it added.
