Up to $5,000 fine for unsecured load while driving

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday said an unsecured load can earn a driver a fine of up to $5,000 and/or even jail time.

While monitoring traffic on Finch Avenue and Whites Road in the City of Pickering, a stop was conducted for Insecure Load and Interfere with Traffic.

This led to additional summons which empowers the Justice of the Peace to levy up to $5,000 fine and/or six months in jail, said the traffic branch.

Meanwhile, North Division officers, caught  a driver speeding at 103kmh in a 50 zone.

They also clocked another doing 80kmh in a 50kmh zone.

This is too fast. Not knowing the area is not an excuse. Please pay attention to the speed limit signs, said a police tweet.
