Scugog offers free CPR training to residents

Emergencies can happen to anyone at any time, and the Township of Scugog wants to help ensure community members are prepared if they ever find themselves in a situation where they need to assist someone in need.

To help achieve this, Scugog Council approved two CPR-C Training Courses, hosted by St. John Ambulance, available for free to township residents ages 18 years and up. This course has a maximum capacity of 18 participants, with spaces offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions for this program run from 9 am to 1 pm on:

  • November 7: Scugog Community Recreation Centre, 1655 Reach Street
  • November 14: Blackstock Recreation Complex, 3340 Church Street

“CPR can help save the life of another person. While it is not a difficult skill to learn, it can be tough to remember when in the high-stress situation of assisting someone in need. This course will help ensure you are prepared to safely and effectively provide that care. You will learn how to manage an emergency scene, how to recognize a heart attack, and how to respond when someone stops breathing. CPR-C also covers resuscitation for adults, children, infants, and two-rescuer CPR,” said a township statement.

Residents can sign up for this course now through the township’s Adults and Older Adults page.
