Durham Police said a male is facing charges after he repeatedly directed a laser at DRPS’s Air1 helicopter while it was in flight in Oshawa.
On Friday, October 25, at about 11:05 pm, members of Central West Division responded to the area of Deer Valley Drive and Snowbird Street, after Air1 was repeatedly struck by a green laser, creating an immediate and serious safety risk by endangering the lives of those onboard.
The origin of the laser was tracked to three males who were observed walking on the roadway.
Officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, located the males and took the suspect into custody.
The laser pointer was located a short distance away.
A male, age 27 from Oshawa was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
