Seven new EV chargers bring Whitby total to 15, rates detailed

The Town of Whitby recently announced on social media the addition of seven new EV (electric vehicle) chargers, bringing its total to 15 in the town.

It thanked Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program for making this possible.

Electric Vehicle Charging Fees

Level 2

  • $1.50 service fee plus $1.50 per hour for the first three hours
  • After three hours the fee will go up to $4 per hour

Level 3

  • $1.50 service fee
  • $19 per hour

How to Use the Electric Vehicle Chargers

  1. Make a payment using ChargePoint or a credit card – view a short video to learn more about charging your vehicle with ChargePoint.
  2. Push the button on the connector and lift it out of the holster on the station.
  3. Plug the connector into your EV to start charging. Check to make sure your EV is charging.
  4. When charging is finished, just unplug and return the connector to the station.

  1. Seems like Whitby is one of the very few operators of EV chargers that have an activation fee. Imagine paying an extra $1.50 just to start the pump when filling up your ICE vehicle…
