Shaving a few minutes on road… but full time in impound

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday pointed to some not smart moves by drivers in Durham.

“124 km in a 60 through rush hour traffic… not a smart move,” said a police tweet.

“At most [the driver] would have shaved a few moments off his commute…. Officers cannot shave any time off the 14-day impoundment,” it added.

Meantime, there was a collision in Oshawa involving a police cruiser.

Police are on scene at Taunton Road East and Harmony Road North in Oshawa for a collision investigation. The intersection will be closed for a period of time. Please avoid the area and consider alternate routes, said a police notice.

Police later informed that the collision involved three vehicles, including a police cruiser.

“A collision investigation is being conducted and the intersection will remain closed. Injuries are non life threatening,” it said.

No further details were available till late last night.

Last night DRPS Traffic Services were deploying an enforcement team in response to complaints.

Expect to see our team across the Region of Durham with a notable presence in the City of Oshawa and Clarington.

“To our community – we hear your concerns; to the violators – we hear your cars and will see you soon,” police said.
