She fought to save purse, but lost her Toyota Rav4 to thief

Durham Police are looking for a male suspect after he stole a vehicle from the Pickering Town Centre parking lot.

On Sunday, January 7 at around 4 pm, members of West Division responded to a stolen vehicle call at the Pickering Town Centre located at 1355 Kingston Road in Pickering.

The victim was returning to her vehicle after attending local businesses, when she was confronted by an unknown male. The male attempted to steal the victim’s purse, but was unsuccessful. During the struggle, the male took the victim’s car keys and fled the area in her black Toyota Rav4. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries, said a police statement.

The suspect is described as: male, Black, 25-35 years-old, approximately 5’7”, 140-150 lbs, with his hair in shoulder length dreads. He was wearing a green jacket.
