The all-new outdoor amenities at South Courtice Arena was launched on September 21.
Located at 1595 Prestonvale Road in Courtice, the arena is already a hub of community activity featuring both NHL and Olympic-sized indoor ice pads, an outdoor soccer field and off-leash dog park. Now, it’s also home to Clarington’s first accessible outdoor fitness area, paid for in part by the Government of Canada’s Healthy Communities Initiative, as well as two lit tennis courts, a multi-skills court with both basketball key and ball hockey crease line paintings, and a reconstructed path to the dog park, said a municipal statement.
“There are new ways to move and play in the outdoor space at South Courtice Arena. These new outdoor amenities show Clarington’s commitment to providing diverse recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. “With the community’s first accessible outdoor fitness area, two new tennis courts, paved walkways and a multi-skills court now available at South Courtice Arena – there’s something for everyone to get outside and enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.”
The launch celebration gave residents an opportunity to explore the new amenities and participate in many free family-friendly activities, including ice skating, tennis and fitness demonstrations, face painting, inflatables, prize wheel giveaways, crafts and more.
