Durham police say a man is facing firearm-related charges after a traffic stop in Whitby on Sunday evening.
According to police, members of Central West Division were on proactive patrol when they pulled over a vehicle around 8:10 pm near Dunlop Street East and Green Street. Officers say they detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and conducted a search.
During the search, police say a firearm was found inside the vehicle, along with two loaded magazines. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
A 41-year-old man of Whitby, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
