Suspect flees from police in stolen Merc

A 36-year-old male was arrested in Ajax after he fled from police in a stolen vehicle Thursday morning.

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a suspicious vehicle call near a gas station on Thornton Road and Taunton Road West in Oshawa. A silver Mercedes was parked in a lot and had damage to the passenger side. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspect fled at a high rate of speed onto the westbound Highway 401. However, the officers lost sight of the vehicle.

Officers from West Division located the vehicle parked near Ritchie Avenue and Westney Road in Ajax. The male was arrested and the stolen vehicle was seized.

Marvin LACUATA, age 36, of No Fixed Address is charged with: Possess Property Obtained by Crime; Flight from Police Officer; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Operation While Impaired by Alcohol/Drug; Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand and Drive While Under Suspension. He was held for a bail hearing.
