Suspect wanted for hate-motivated assault at Oshawa school

Durham Police are searching for a suspect after he assaulted a victim in a hate motivated incident in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, February 5, members of East Division said they attended a residence in regards to an assault that had taken place at a high school in Oshawa on Monday, February 3.

At about 11:45 am the victim was at Maxwell Heights Secondary School located at 1100 Coldstream Drive when the suspect approached the victim. The suspect made hate-based comments and attempted to remove the victim’s headdress. A witness assisted the victim and chased the suspect away, police reported.

The victim sustained minor injuries. No details of the victim are being shared in order to protect their identity.

Police described the suspect as: male, White, 50-60 years of age, 6’, heavy build, bald, unshaven and wearing a black jacket.
