Taunton-Townline intersection closed till September 23

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an intersection closure of Townline Road North and Taunton Road East in Oshawa and Clarington.

When: August 8 until the end of September 23.

Where: The following roads will be closed to through traffic:

  • Townline Road North from Whitelaw Avenue to Woodstream Avenue.
  • Taunton Road East from Benson Street to Langmaid Road.

Why: To safely install new sanitary sewers, storm sewer, local watermain and to conduct road reconstruction.

Local traffic and emergency services will be required to use the signed detour routes, said a municipal statement.

Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the construction. Durham Region said it offers a helpful overview of what businesses can expect during construction, including tips on how to minimize the inconvenience on their business, at durham.ca/OpenForBusiness.

Lane restrictions on Simcoe Street

The Regional Municipality also announced lane restrictions on Simcoe Street in the City of Oshawa.

  • When: August 8 to August 12. Unfavorable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Simcoe Street from Columbus Road East to Steepleview Court, in Oshawa.
  • Why: For storm sewer work to improve parking lot at local park.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
