An Audi sedan with two teen boys inside, lost control, veered off the roadway and caught fire in Whitby.
On Thursday, June 11, around 8:30 pm, members of North Division responded to a single vehicle collision on Duffs Road south of Townline Road West.
An Audi sedan was travelling northbound on Duffs Road when it lost control, went off the roadway, and caught fire. Officers arrived on scene and located two occupants suffering from injuries.
A 16-year-old boy suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted by Air ORNG to a Toronto-area trauma centre. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.
A 17-year-old boy was transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
Pedestrian Injured
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) announced they had to close off a road in the Town of Ajax on Thursday following a collision-related injury.
The intersection of Rossland Road East and Salem Road North in Ajax was closed for a collision investigation, said the police.
It said a pedestrian struck and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One vehicle involved.
Truck Brings Wires Down
On Friday June 12th, around 3:49 pm DRPS reported that Adelaide Avenue East in Oshawa was closed between Ritson Road North and Division Street after a transport truck struck overhead wires.
The strike caused the wires to come down. The roadway has since been reopened
