Teens crash stolen car; get ‘Promise to Appear’

Ajax: Two Toronto teens are facing charges after crashing a stolen vehicle involved in a pursuit in Ajax on Monday morning.

On August 5 at 12:45 am, members of West Division investigated a suspicious vehicle on Harwood Avenue South and Lake Driveway East in Ajax. The Lexus SUV being driven by the suspect failed to stop for police and the vehicle continued to drive away in a residential neighbourhood.

The suspect vehicle eventually went down a dead end road and crashed on the front lawn of a residence on Graham Court. Two teens exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Responding officers engaged in a foot pursuit and the suspects were arrested nearby.

Two 16-year-olds, from Toronto were arrested. One teen is charged with Fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Operation and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. The other teen is charged with Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

They were both released on a Promise to Appear.
