Three held for bail hearing after gun found during stop

Two females and a male are facing charges after police located a loaded firearm during a routine vehicle stop in Port Perry.

On Wednesday, March 29, at about 2:45 am, members of North Division stopped a vehicle in the area of Hwy 7A and Scugog Street in Port Perry for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

The investigation led to the occupants being removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted. A loaded firearm and cannabis were located during the search, said a poloce statement.

A male, age 22 of Toronto, is charged with nine offences including Possess Loaded or Restricted Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm and Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling.

A female, age 21 and another, age 23 both of Toronto, were charged with five offences including Possess Loaded or Restricted Firearm and Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm.

All three were held for a bail hearing.
