Three new covid deaths in Pickering and Whitby added

At the end of December last year, the total case count had stood at 35,663. There were 14,578 new cases posted in January.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 438, with 236 of them occurring in LTCs (long term care facilities). Two new LTC deaths were added for Pickering, and one non-LTC in Whitby.

Recoveries stand at 51,600. However, there are 453 active covid cases. Figures for hospitalizations and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and people in home isolation, were not available.

Durham Health reported the highest overall number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

Covid Deaths: 438

Of the 130 reported deaths in Pickering, 91 were in LTC
Of the 78 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 70 reported deaths in Whitby, 31 in LTC
Of the 84 reported deaths in Oshawa, 43 were in LTC
27 deaths were reported in Clarington, four in LTC
27 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
18 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
4 deaths have been reported in Brock
