72-year old woman charged in Pickering suspicious death

Durham Police investigators have laid charges in a homicide investigation after a deceased female was located overnight in north Pickering.  

Investigators from the Major Crime- Homicide Unit have charged a 72-year-old female of Clarington with Second Degree Murder. Police have secured a residence on Fairway Drive in Wilmot Creek to secure evidence, said a police statement.

It said police are waiting for the results of a post-mortem from the Centre of Forensic Sciences before confirming the identity of the deceased female.

The deceased female was discovered in a heavily wooded area near a creek in north Pickering.

On Sunday, February 20, at about 10:30 pm, members of West Division located the deceased female in a densely wooded area near Pickering Concession Road 9 and Sideline 28 in Pickering. Members of the Major Crime – Homicide Unit have taken carriage of the investigation and this death is being treated as suspicious, said an earlier police statement.
