Monday’s NE Pickering plan presentation now on May 20 to

A key presentation on the Northeast Pickering Secondary Plan to council scheduled for today (Monday, April 27), has been pushed back to May 20 by Mayor Kevin Ashe.

The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) had announced earlier this month (see below) that the decision on the controversial plan had been deferred for a month to allow Mayor Ashe time to set up a meeting with the Chief and MSIFN Council members.

No date for the meeting has yet been announced by either side.

MSIFN and the Town of Ajax are both concerned about the environmental impacts of the development of the area.

The postponement of the council presentation was via a mayoral decision (#11-2026) in which the mayor directed city staff and Chief Administrative Officer, of his decision to push back the April 27th event.

The decision stated: “…staff are hereby directed to instead bring the report to a Special Meeting of Council on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 6 pm for council’s consideration.”
