Second female pedestrian to be seriously hurt this week

In a second time this week, another pedestrian was hit, this time by a Mini Cooper in Ajax, leaving them with significant injuries, according to DRPS.

In the first incident, a pedestrian is fighting for her life (see below) after being hit by a SUV on April 21 in Pickering.

On Thursday, April 23, around 2:25 pm, members of West Division responded to a pedestrian involved collision in the area of Harwood Avenue North and Rossland Road East.

A Mini Cooper was travelling southbound on Harwood Avenue North when it collided with a female pedestrian in the roadway.

As a result of the collision, the 16-year-old female pedestrian suffered significant injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre. The 48-year-old male driver of the Mini remained on scene, police said.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The roadway has since been re-opened. This collision is still under investigation.
