Traffic Alert: Construction impacts on Taunton Road

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced upcoming lane restrictions and lane closures on Taunton Road East in the Town of Whitby.

Westbound lane restrictions begin Friday August 23, followed by full westbound lane closures August 24 to 25. Lane restrictions will remain until end of day August 26. Unfavourable weather conditions and the region’s contractor works may influence the schedule, said a region statement.

Westbound lane restrictions and lane closures on Taunton Road East (Regional Road 4) will take place from 300 metres east of Garden Street to Garden Street.

The detour route will be as follows: Taunton Road East to Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) to Rossland Road (Regional Road 28), to Brock Street (Regional Road 12), to Taunton Road East. The detour route will be signed as D-1.

Daily lane restrictions/closures will be required for the duration of the project to safely replace a water valve.

The region said it realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
