There will be a full closure of the Simcoe Street Bridge from Bloor Street to just south of the 401 westbound on-ramp on Simcoe Street South, according to the City of Oshawa.
This overnight closure is to allow for the installation of a girder on the east side of the Simcoe Street bridge, it said.
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is replacing the Simcoe Street South. and Albert Street. overpass structures along Highway 401 in Oshawa.
The closure will take place on Thursday, August 22 at 6 pm until 5 am on Friday, August 23.
During this period, access to the Simcoe Street South Highway 401 eastbound and westbound off-ramps will be available.
Detour routes will be implemented to divert the vehicle traffic around the closed portion of Simcoe Street. These detour routes are summarized as follows:
- Northbound traffic on Simcoe Street: Traffic will be detoured east on Bloor Street to Ritson Road where they will head north and then head east on McNaughton Avenue/First Avenue to Simcoe Street South.
- Southbound traffic on Simcoe Street: Traffic will be detoured east on First Avenue to Ritson Road. where they will head south to Bloor Street and then head west to Simcoe Street South.
Additionally, Lviv Blvd. will be closed at Albert Street with access to local traffic only.
The city said appropriate signage will be installed before the closure date to notify the travelling public of the closure date and times. All detour routes will be clearly outlined by the appropriate detour signage to guide traffic.
