Traffic Alert: Road works across Durham coming this week

There are several road projects across various municipalitis that are scheduled to start tbis week, according to the Regional Municipality of Durham.

Road users are advised to be aware of the traffic impact of these road works.

They are described below by scheduled dates:

Construction on Mary Street for watermain replacement: The Regional Municipality said it will begin construction for the replacement of the watermain, sanitary sewer and services on Mary Street from Rossland Road East to 150 metres north of Robert Street in Oshawa. Works will include restoration of all disturbed areas and full asphalt removal and replacement.

The region’s contractor, Trisan Construction, will begin mobilizing the week of April 29, and anticipates completing the work by September 2025.

Mary Street will be closed for the duration of construction. Access for local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Local residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of the driveway.

During the course of this work, residents will experience intermittent water supply interruptions. The contractor will notify impacted properties 48 hours in advance of any planned service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare. It is recommended that residents keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes during the service interruptions.

Closure on Simcoe Street in Brock: The Regional Municipality is advising residents of a complete road closure on Simcoe Street in the Township of Brock.

It will be from April 29 to May 17 on Simcoe Street, from Madill Street to west of the driveway of the Holy Family Catholic School.

The closure is to safely replace a watermain.

Lane restrictions in Pickering and Whitby: The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Ninth Concession Road/Myrtle Road (Regional Road 5) in the City of Pickering and Town of Whitby.

These will be from April 30 to May 24 daily on Ninth Concession Road/Myrtle Road, from 740 metres west of Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) to 465 metres east of Lake Ridge Road, in Pickering and Whitby.

The lane restrictions will be in place for the installation of paved shoulders.

Lane restrictions on Myrtle Road in Scugog: The Regional Municipality has announced lane restrictions on Myrtle Road (Regional Road 5) in the Township of Scugog from April 30 to May 24.

These will be in place daily on Myrtle Road, from 740 metres west of Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) to 465 metres east of Lake Ridge Road, in the Township of Scugog.

The lane restrictions will be in place for the installation of paved shoulders.

Lane restrictions in Uxbridge: The Regional Municipality notified of lane restrictions on York Durham Townline (Regional Road 30) in the Township of Uxbridge from April 30 to May 24.

Lane restrictions will be in place daily on York Durham Townline, from north of Davis Drive to 1.16 kilometres north of Sandford Road (Regional Road 11), for the installation of paved shoulders.

Road closure on Bowmanville Avenue in Clarington: The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure of Bowmanville Avenue in the community of Bowmanville, in the Municipality of Clarington.

Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57), between King Street (Regional Highway 2) and Stevens Road, will be closed from May 3 at 6 pm to May 5 at 9 pm.

The road closure is part of the Bowmanville Avenue widening and reconstruction project.
