Train to Bowmanville: Geo-tech work extended into fall

Metrolinx, operator of GO Transit, has announced that preliminary geo-technical work will continue into fall.

The work is underway along the CP-owned part of the corridor. It is to collect information for the future Bowmanville Expansion Project between Oshawa GO Station and Bowmanville Avenue in Bowmanville. This work will be ongoing into fall 2021, Metrolinx said.

Geotechnical work requires the drilling of boreholes and testing soil conditions for the future construction of corridor infrastructure. This work will take place during daytime hours. Residents can expect to see a small drill rig, trucks, and a work crew working within, or near the rail corridor. Typical construction impacts can be expected, such as noise, vibration and dust.
