Two women charged in dog abuse cases

Dirham Police investigators have made arrests in both animal abuse cases in North Clarington.

Although very similar in nature, both investigations are separate and investigators with the assistance of the Provincial Animal Welfare Services arrested and charged two individuals. One of the dogs died, but the surviving puppy (Minnie) is currently recovering in a foster home and is in good health, police said.

Police arrested and charged a 28-year-old female of Oshawa and a 34-year-old female from Whitby with: Owner Having Custody Abandon Animal; Owner Permit Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal; Cause Distress; Standards of Care and Administrative Requirements for Animals x2.

Investigators would like to thank the community and Team Chelsea volunteers for their assistance in this investigation.
